Tamarind and Chilli Rice

Rice in tangy tamarind sauce with hint of red chilli, a mouthwatering combination. Very easy recipe and quick too but it’s so delicious, that others will think that lots of effort has gone into it.

All in one dish, rice with beans, combination of carb and protein pair with salad and you have balanced meal. I have used basmati long grain rice, it works better with these kind of dishes, they keep their shape and taste great too.

Maggi tamarind sauce is something I absolutely love, it is great with pakoras, samosas or even with sandwiches. I alway have supply of this sauce in our house.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup rice, washed and soaked in water
  • 1/2 a tin of mixed salad beans
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1 tsp red chilli flakes
  • 1 tbsp of maggi tamarind sauce, hot and spicy one
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp cumin

Method:

  • Boil rice separately
  • In a pan fry cumin, onion and garlic, add salt, tamarind sauce and chilli, mix and cook for a 1-2 min
  • Add rice gently
  • Enjoy!
